It has been a 24 hour period since the JellyBean 4.2.2 update was On-The-Air for Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10. Also, we had clean and simple instructions for Installation of JellyBean 4.2.2 OTA update on Nexus 4 and now we’ll do the same for the GSM Galaxy Nexus, including both Takju and Yakju variants.
You shall update either way by going to settings > about Phone > check now for Update. But in case, you somehow aren’t able to update that way or you are certainly fond of manual flashing rather than automatic updates, then do bother to try this guide. Indulging very simple and few steps, which will directly drop your device to the latest 4.2.2 update.
Warning!
The instructions are meant only for GSM Galaxy Nexus Takju and Yakju variants
Remember! Takju and Yakju are two different variants, so please do not cross over the files or steps

Backup device Storage, text Messages, Contacts, Calender & Organizer
Battery level above 60%
Enable USB debugging. Go to Settings > Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
Installation Instructions
For Takju GSM Galaxy Nexus
Download JellyBean 4.2.2 OTA update [Google Server link]
Power off your device. press volume Up + volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously until you see the fastboot screen. use the volume keys to highlight recovery and use Power button to select.
You will see another screen with red colored exclamation mark. press volume Up and Power buttons altogether until you see the stock recovery screen.
Select apply update from ADB
Connect your Galaxy Nexus to PC via USB data cable
Open the folder where the OTA update package was downloaded. press shift key and right click on an empty space, select open Command prompt Here.
Flash the OTA package. Type:
adb sideload 472aafeb9fe3.signed-takju-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.472aafeb.zip
When the update is Installed successfully, reboot the device.
For Yakju GSM Galaxy Nexus
Download JellyBean 4.2.2 OTA update [Google Server link]
Power off your device. Press Volume Up + volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously until you see the fastboot screen. use the volume keys to highlight recovery and use Power button to select.
You will see another screen with red colored exclamation mark. Press Volume Up and Power buttons altogether until you see the stock recovery screen.
